ABC 060714 TracyMorgan? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1416404640846ABC/Randy Holmes(NEW YORK) — Tracy Morgan is back. In his first announced gig since surviving a fatal car crash last June, the comedian will return to Saturday Night Live October 17 to host.

Morgan suffered several broken bones and a traumatic brain injury June 7, 2014 after a Walmart truck slammed into the limo van in which he was traveling on the New Jersey Turnpike. Fellow comic James McNair died in the crash.

NBC announced Monday the former SNL cast member will be a host during the sketch comedy series’ 41st season, which starts October 3 with Miley Cyrus hosting. It’ll be Morgan’s second time as host.

Actress and comic Amy Schumer also will host this season, on October 10.

Back in June, Morgan told NBC’s Today show he worried if he’d ever be funny again. “I love comedy. I’ll never stop loving her. I love comedy and I can’t wait to get back to her, but right now my goal is just to heal and get better because I’m not 100 percent yet, I’m not,” he said. “And when I’m there, you’ll know it.”
