Woman dies following serious crash in Bonneville Co.

UPDATE (5:15 p.m.) : The Boneville County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the Pontiac Sunfire, 48-year-old Maria Elena Patino-Arreola, died at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center this afternoon.

ORIGINAL POST:

IONA – A woman was rushed to the hospital following a serious two car accident at 15th East Iona Road Monday afternoon.

Bonneville County deputies, State Police, two ambulances, and two firetrucks responded to the scene shortly after 12:30 p.m.

Video shot by a witness shows a woman in a Pontiac Sunfire had to be extricated from a window. Witnesses say she was unconscious. She was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Her condition is unknown.

Witnesses tell EastIdahoNews.com the driver of the other vehicle, a man in his 50’s, was also injured. His condition is unknown.

Note: Police originally identified Patino-Arreola as being 67-years-old. Tuesday morning they issued a correction.
