Ammon firemen honor fallen comrade with procession

AMMON — The Ammon Fire Department led a procession of fire engines down Sunnyside Road to honor the passing of one of their own, Saturday, Oct. 24.

Bryon Michael Christopher Kunkel, 26, passed away early Sunday, Oct. 18. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a volunteer with the Ammon Fire Department.

“Today we are supporting the family and friends of a member of our department that passed away this week,” Deputy Chief Keith Banda said. “The procession was a way of showing respect for him from the funeral home to the fire station and we held a celebration of life.”

A memorial service was held today at the Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.buckmillerhann.com.

He was a loving father of his 3-year-old son, Hunter Kunkel. Additional survivors include his mother, Elizabeth (David) Monk; brothers, Nick and Luke Monk; maternal grandmother, Shirley Kunkel; and uncles, Tony (Kathy) Kunkel and Brent (Patty) Kunkel.
