And although the theme song from the show, which went went off the air in 1993, reminded viewers that the pub was a place “where everybody knows your name,” today Danson likely wouldn’t sing along because he admitted he can’t remember the lyrics.

“I don’t. Give me the line because I don’t know the lyrics,” Danson told ABC News‘ Peter Travers of the iconic theme song.

Seriously?! How is this possible when just about any random person on the street could spout out the tune in mere seconds?

“I will reach over and smack you, Peter, if you ask me to sing a song,” Danson said jokingly while pretending to do just that.

Perhaps Danson can’t recall the lyrics to the Cheer’s theme song because he’s moved on. He’s currently starring in FX’s hit series Fargo, now in its sophomore season. He plays Hank Larsson, a sheriff in the local police department.

“Hank has seen his share of violence, but the human race kind of confuses him,” Danson said. “He actually thinks a lot about what would make the planet a better place. He’ll stand up against six bad guys knowing that he’s not going to come out of it alive. And yet that’s his job, so he will do it.”

Fargo airs Monday nights at 10 p.m. Eastern on FX.
