IDAHO FALLS — An Idaho Falls man with a history of sex crimes will go before a district judge next month on charges he raped a woman while on parole.
Mitch S. Taylor, 25, is accused of grabbing his girlfriend by the neck, pinning her to a bed and sexually assaulting her inside an Idaho Falls apartment on Friday, Aug. 21.
Court documents show the victim called police and told officers Taylor had beat and punched her after an argument. She tried to leave but, according to court records, Taylor told her she couldn’t unless she had sex with him.
She refused and that’s when the rape allegedly happened. After the incident, the victim called police and went to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where doctors performed a sexual assault exam.
Taylor admitted to officers the couple had been in an argument, but said the sex was consensual and that he accidentally hit the woman.
The alleged crime occurred while Taylor was out of jail on parole for a statutory rape conviction.
In July 2009, he was convicted with two counts of statutory rape in Madison County. Rexburg Police said Taylor had sex with and impregnated two underage girls. Investigators testified Taylor had sexual intercourse with 10 to 15 teenage girls – most of them either 15 or 16, according to court documents.
Taylor was sentenced to one and a half to five years in prison for the statutory rape charges.
Taylor will appear for a preliminary hearing in Bonneville County on Tuesday, Dec. 8. His bond is set at $75,000. If convicted on the rape charge, he could face up to life in prison.
