Asaro was accused of playing a role in the heist at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. The theft was dramatized in the movie Goodfellas.

Asaro was the only mobster ever charged in connection with the heist.

The verdict was returned after about two days of deliberations, the New York Times says. Asaro was accused of having helped plan the heist, then considered the largest cash robbery in U.S. history.
