(CNN) – A 22-year-old with Down syndrome is getting ready to compete in his first ever bodybuilding competition after an incredible transformation he made with only a year of training.

Collin Clarke’s inspiring journey began while he was working the front desk at Bob’s Gym North in Evansville, Indiana.

While on the job Collin would watch personal trainer Glenn Ubelhor in the next room, practicing routines for upcoming competitions in between his sessions with clients.

After Ubelhor left the room, Collin would go inside and emulate his moves.
Their mutual passion for bodybuilding led to a friendship, and Ubelhor began training Collin.

Fast-forward one year later and, after following a strict diet and exercise regime, Collin is 60 pounds lighter at 145 pounds with under 10 percent body fat, according to Buzzfeed.
