IDAHO FALLS — A Blackfoot man is behind bars in Bonneville County after police say he brutally injured a woman.

Matthew S. Walker, 28, was taken into custody on a warrant for aggravated battery and domestic battery stemming from an altercation that occurred Nov. 9, according to an Idaho Falls police news release.

Police said Walker and a 25-year-old woman got into an argument and he pushed and kicked her several times before taking off with her car.

Officers the woman tried to stop Walker from taking the car and leaned into the driver’s side to retrieve the keys.

As she was doing this, police say Walker drove off with her still dangling from the driver’s side. He sideswiped some parking garages — crushing and pinning the woman’s legs between the car and garage, police said.

Investigators say the woman fell out of the vehicle to the ground and Walker drove away.

Walker was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

The Idaho Repository shows Walker has an extensive criminal history. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, Dec. 17.
