Mom Shamed for Buying So Many Christmas Gifts Pushes Back Against Critics

(LONDON) — British mother Emma Tapping has been called an “idiot” and “materialistic” after she posted a photo of her Christmas tree nearly obscured by the stack of presents all around it.
Now, the mother of three and coupon blogger is defending herself against critics who say she’s bragging.
Tapping, 35, pushed back on Facebook, saying, “This picture was put on my Instagram along with pictures of homemade decorations I had made with the kids. 1 picture of the tree. It was taken, screenshot and blasted all over facebook without my knowledge. It was not done as a ‘bragging parent.'”
“I did not go on a ‘spree’ its been well documented I do this throughout the year,” she added, before clarifying, “The presents under the tree are for my children, myself, my partner and my mother, not just the kids.”
Still, Tapping wrote that she did receive “thousands of messages” of support from others wondering how they can do the same for their children the next holiday season.
“I WILL be putting all my tips and tricks on here and on my website which is being updated to try and help anyone that wants to save a bit of money here and there,” she wrote. “Hopefully this time next year you can be posting your picture or story on this page of how well you have done.”
The mother had a warning for those who criticized her: “Please try and remember this is about 3 little children, their christmas, their tree,” she wrote on Facebook.
ABC News reached out to Tapping, but she declined to comment.
