The following is a new release from the Idaho Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.
AMMON –Broulim’s officially opened its roughly 60,000 square foot store for business at the Sandcreek Commons shopping center on December 21, but held its grand opening event Thursday.
Broulim’s is a family-owned grocery chain founded by Charlie Broulim with the first store opening on Main Street in Rigby, Idaho, in 1922. The Ammon grocery location will be the tenth store for the chain, increasing the regional footprint of the company that currently boasts existing stores in Rexburg, Driggs, Afton and elsewhere around southern Idaho and Wyoming. The new Broulim’s location adds roughly 100 jobs to Ammon, taking the Broulim’s company workforce to well over 900.
The new location in Ammon isn’t the first time Broulim’s has served the Idaho Falls’ area. “My grandfather Charlie Broulim and his brother actually opened a store in Idaho Falls in 1928. It was the first store in Idaho Falls to include a bakery,” remarks Robert Broulim, company president. “We are excited to be returning to the Idaho Falls area with a location in Ammon. This is an opportunity we have been looking forward to for many years.”
The new Broulim’s is located in Sandcreek Commons, home to Cabela’s, Hobby Lobby and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, which opened this week. Sandcreek Commons is a joint venture project developed by Ball Ventures of Idaho Falls and Woodbury Corporation of Salt Lake City, Utah.
