REXBURG — Over 300 local dancers will participate in Rexburg’s Best of the Best Talent Expo Saturday Mar. 5.

This is the second year for the showcase and fundraising effort to help the American Footworks Festival Team on its dancing tour around the world.

The talent expo will be made up of dancers from numerous dance studios in Southeast Idaho. Different dance genres ranging from jazz, ballet, and clogging, to Irish step dance, Zumba, and martial arts will be featured at the event. The public can watch performances and vote for their favorite teams to win one of five Audience Choice Awards with their ticket stubs.

The American Footworks Festival Team is raising funds to help dancers pay for annual tour costs.

Dancers from the team travel around the world to represent the United States at international dance festivals, according to a release from American Footworks.

Participants live, eat, and perform with dancers from other countries in week-long festivals of goodwill.

Mindy Larsen, team director, is excited for her team to explore and share their passion in other parts of the world.

“Indonesia is a new area of the world for us. None of us have ever been to southeast Asia before,” Larsen said. “We are excited to share our love for dance and for all people, to build bridges of understanding and make new friends in Indonesia.”

This August the team will travel to two international dance festivals in Indonesia. They plan to perform with 15 other international teams during popular festivals in Surabaya and Balikpapan.

The event will be held at the Madison Performing Arts Center at Madison High School in Rexburg March 5 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Adults cost $5 and children 12 and under are $2. Concessions, a bake sale, and a raffle will be held along with displays from numerous vendors.
