AMMON — Idaho Falls Magazine will hold its annual food drive, Drive & Drop, on Saturday.

The drive will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the 17th Street Albertsons parking lot.

Drive & Drop collects canned goods, nonperishable food and other household necessities on behalf of four local charities: Idaho Falls Community Food Basket, Haven Shelter, City of Refuge and the Soup Kitchen.

“There’s no shortage of goodwill in this town, and with that comes a greater awareness that there’s also a lot of need,” said Steve Smede, editor of Idaho Falls Magazine. “For a town our size, we have an abundance of nonprofit organizations that focus solely on food, shelter and overall care of those in need, and those organizations could always use additional support.”

Set in April, when support usually runs low for charities that rely on local donations, Drive & Drop is designed to keep the much-needed help coming. Donors at the Albertsons location will receive a coupon for a free Orange Leaf frozen yogurt.

Idaho Falls Magazine is also partnering with Tautphaus Park’s Earth Day to have an additional Drive & Drop booth at the Earth Day celebration, which is this Saturday as well. Donors at Tautphaus Park’s Earth Day celebration will receive free zoo admission for children under 12 accompanied by a paying adult. The Earth Day location is primarily looking for canned goods.
