Truck driver experiences medical emergency and dies during crash

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.

On April 16, 2017, at approximately 11:39 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a commercial vehicle rollover crash westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 184, between Twin Falls and Hazelton.

The commercial vehicle was driving westbound on Interstate 84, when the driver had a medical emergency. The semi drifted into the median, continued across the eastbound lanes of travel and rolled.

The semi came to rest on the eastbound shoulder, blocking the westbound lane of the frontage road, south of Interstate 84. The driver succumbed to their injuries at the time of the crash.

Names of the driver and passenger will be released when next of kin notification has been made.

The eastbound and westbound lanes of the frontage road were blocked for an extended period of time for cleanup. The driver and passenger of the commercial vehicle were wearing their seatbelts.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
