REXBURG — The driver of a 1999 Toyota Camry that crashed into Flower Magic Floral Thursday told police he was choking on a french fry.

Rexburg Police and a Madison County ambulance responded just after 6:15 p.m. The driver was transported to Madison Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The 67-year-old male driver told police he was traveling south when choked on the french fry, which caused him to swerve over both northbound lanes of traffic on Second East and hit the building.

The owner of the building, Mark Hancock, was contacted and arrived on scene.

Hancock told the BYU-Idaho Scroll the situation is “ironic” since the man who hit the building is insured under him.

“I am an insurance agent, and this is somebody we insure,” Hancock said.

The Camry was later towed, and the man was not cited for the accident.

Damage estimates were unavailable Friday morning.
