IDAHO FALLS — A 30-year-old Rexburg man was arrested after police say he ran through downtown Idaho Falls in shredded clothing, revealing his genitals.

Brandon Penrod has been charged with misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure, unlawful entry, resisting arrest and being under the influence of a controlled substance in a public roadway.

Officers were called to the 300 block of Constitution Way on Friday around 8:30 a.m. for a prowler looking into the windows of cars and buildings. Penrod was later identified as the prowler.

When police arrived and confronted Penrod, he ran but was later located on the 600 block of Park Ave. According to police reports, Penrod’s pants were shredded and revealed his genitals.

Police say Penrod entered an unlocked white van belonging to someone else. An officer entered an unlocked passenger side door and arrested Penrod. He told them he had used a “bad batch of meth.”

After being booked into the Bonneville County Jail, Penrod allegedly struck a deputy in the face and was subsequently charged with felony battery.

Penrod had his initial court appearance Monday and bond was set at $27,000.

He has a total of six other misdemeanors pending in other counties including trespassing and contempt of court in Jefferson County, driving under the influence in Madison County and driving with an open container and possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, also in Madison County.

Penrod is due back in court in Bonneville County for a preliminary hearing June 23.
