Shoot model airplanes for a good cause

IDAHO FALLS — Imagine the enemy is flying low over the field. You only have a few shots left.

You aim your weapon, pull the trigger and … splat! Yellow paint smears across the wing of a model plane. Your friends and family cheer.

That’s the experience you can expect this Saturday at Desert Eagles Flying Field near Exit 113 along Interstate 15.

“We’re trying something new this year,” Desert Eagles Club President Al Tucker said. “We’re inviting the public to come out and pay $2 to take 10 shots at our airplanes with a paintball gun.”

All proceeds will be donated to The Idaho Foodbank.

“What that means for us, is about four meals for every dollar donated,” said Jim Beitz, branch manager of the local Idaho Foodbank.

A raffle will also be held at the event. Raffle tickets are $5 per ticket or $25 for six tickets. The prize is a remote controlled airplane.
