Pocatello Utility Payment Drop Boxes to be Removed due to Vandalism

  Published at

The following is a news release from the city of Pocatello.

POCATELLO — Due to ongoing issues with unsafe items being placed inside City of Pocatello utility bill drop boxes, the City will be removing four of the boxes from around the City.

Effective August 10, the boxes located at the intersection at Arthur Avenue and Carter Street; the intersection of Main Street and Lewis Street; 3945 Pole Line Road; and 2695 South 5th Avenue will be removed. The two boxes in front of City Hall will remain for customers to drop off their payments.

“We apologize to any of our customers who may be inconvenienced by this change,” said Cindy Robbins, Utility Billing Director. “Over the last several years, we’ve had unidentifiable and unsafe items placed into the boxes. It has become hazardous for employees to attempt to handle payments from inside these boxes.”

The two remaining containers will be under camera surveillance.

Customers can pay their bill online at pocatello.us/356/Utility-Bill-Pay.

Payments can also be made in person at the Utility Billing office inside City Hall Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Payments can also be made by phone with a valid debit or credit card at 208-234-6241.

Customers who have questions about the change can contact the Utility Billing office at (208) 234-6241.
