UPDATE: 1 dead, 1 arrested after shooting at Chubbuck convenience store
Published at | Updated atCHUBBUCK — Authorities said one person is in custody after an individual died from a gunshot wound outside a Chubbuck convenience store on Friday afternoon.
The shooting was reported at approximately 2 p.m. at the Jacksons Food Store at the corner of Yellowstone and Stuart avenues.
Authorities said the victim, an adult male, was shot in front of the store. When police arrived on scene, the shooting suspect, also an adult male, was taken into custody. However, police did not comment on the suspect’s motive.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, the victim’s body was still outside the convenience store. Authorities had placed a makeshift barrier around the body.
Neither the names of the victim nor the shooter have been released.
The Chubbuck Police Department, Idaho State Police and Bannock County Coroner’s Office have responded to the scene. Police said there is currently no threat to public safety.
The incident remains under investigation.
