The following is an updated news release from Idaho State Police:

On Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 12:10 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury crash on U.S. Highway 20 near milepost 315, at the Ucon exit.

Kurtis Baker, age 21, of Ashton, was driving east on U.S. 20 in the right lane. As Baker went to make a lane change, he thought he saw another vehicle in the left lane, so he swerved to avoid it. Baker then overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, went through the median, across the westbound lanes of travel and back off the road, striking a light pole.

Baker and his juvenile passenger were transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

The westbound exit to Ucon and the right lane of travel were blocked for about 90 minutes while crews worked to clear the scene.
