JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting involving a teenager and adult.

Sheriff Steve Anderson says deputies were called to a home around 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 for a report of a disturbance with shots fired.

When they arrived, investigators discovered a 43-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head area. She was rushed to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where she underwent surgery. She is expected to survive, according to Anderson.

The 15-year-old boy, who fired the gun, was pronounced dead at the scene due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Anderson says the location and names of those involved are being withheld for privacy of the family.

Jefferson County detectives are continuing to investigate the cause of this incident but Anderson says the public is not in danger.
