Singer Matthew Kacergis to perform at BYU-Idaho

REXBURG — Singer Matthew Kacergis will perform in the Barrus Concert Hall at Brigham Young University-Idaho on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Center Stage Performing Arts Series. He will perform a program entitled “The Songs of Cinema: From Casablanca to La La Land.”

Last year the Seattle native played the role of Prince Eric in the national tour of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” to critical acclaim across the country.

In the Pacific Northwest, he has performed with the Fifth Avenue Theatre and Village Theatre, where his favorite credits include Marius in “Les Misérables,” younger brother in “Ragtime” and Tony Elliot in “Billy Elliot,” as well as three world premiere musicals. He’s also performed with Ford’s Theatre, The Shakespeare Theatre, Ogqunquit Playhouse, La Mirada Theatre, Musical Theatre West, The Olney Theatre Center and the Disneyland Resort, among others.

He received his theater training at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the Boston Conservatory.
