POCATELLO — Idaho State University is investigating what caused an elevator in Turner Hall to unexpectedly descend five floors Sunday evening. At the time of the incident, three students were riding inside the elevator.
There were no injuries, but the three students were encouraged to go to the hospital as a precaution.
Safety equipment inside the shaft worked properly to stop the elevator from free falling. The elevator has been turned off, and maintenance professionals from Thyssenkrupp have been contacted. The elevator will undergo a thorough inspection by industry professionals on Monday morning.
Thyssenkrupp serviced the other elevator inside Turner Hall last Thursday, and it remains operational.
