Mountain lion spotted in east Idaho neighborhood

  Published at  | Updated at

POCATELLO — A mountain lion was spotted in a south Pocatello neighborhood Sunday night.

A man who saw the large cat told KPVI he was walking near Country Club and Hilo Drive around 7:00 p.m. He said the cougar was about 30 feet up in a tree.

Just after the man took a photo, he said the mountain lion jumped out of the tree and ran down Country Club Drive.

Idaho Fish and Game reports a couple of mountain lion sightings in the Johnny Creek area over the last few weeks, but stress that it’s typical to see cougars and other wild animals in this part of Pocatello.

Experts say there have been three mountain lion attacks on humans in Idaho since 1990. None of those were deadly.
