Man arrested on misdemeanor drug charges after investigation into death threats

IDAHO FALLS — An 26-year-old Idaho Falls man was arrested Friday afternoon after he made several serious threats to others on social media.

Police were notified of a post on the man’s Facebook profile, posted late Friday morning, which read, “Guess I’ma just start doing and when I shoot some one oh well y’all should have beloved [sic] I’m not afraid to waist [sic] my life in jail,” according to a police news release.

Later, the man replied to a comment on the post, “ … not going to have people rip me off of drugs I will kill them.”

IFPD detectives went to the man’s residence to question with him about the threats. There, police found the man in possession of drugs.

He was charged with misdemeanor drug possession and misdemeanor disturbing the peace. Neither of these charges were related to the threats.

Idaho Falls Police wish to remind residents that they take threats of harm to others very seriously, no matter how they are made.

Police urge the public to report posts on social media in which threats are made on the lives of others. Police recommend taking a screenshot of the post(s) and immediately calling Idaho Falls public safety dispatch at (208) 529-1200 to report the threats.
