IDAHO FALLS — A 36-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged sexual battery of a girl who was 16-years-old at the time.

Jerry Ewell, 36, will appear in court on March 28 for a preliminary hearing regarding the alleged sexual acts he performed on the teen in Oct. 2017.

The victim reportedly told police Ewell engaged in “consensual sexual acts with her over the period of approximately eight months,” according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by EastIdahoNews.com.

In Idaho, a person under 18-years-old is unable to legally give consent for sexual activity with a person older than 18.

According to court documents, Ewell told police he had sex with the victim twice and performed 15 to 23 other sexual acts with her.

Sexual battery of a minor between the ages of 16 and 17 carries a maximum of life in prison.
