UPDATE: Local convenience store broken into, robbed twice

POCATELLO — Authorities are investigating a break-in at Willie’s Pit Stop in the 1300 block of North Arthur Avenue in Pocatello.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Surveillance video, provided by the store, shows two suspects smashed the glass on the front door, and proceeded to steal cases of beer. Minutes later, a different suspect entered the store and stole cigarettes.

“We lost at least a thousand dollars worth due to glass damage, etc.,” store owner Chet Willie said.

The Pocatello Police Department responded within minutes after receiving a call from someone who saw the door shattered. The department says they don’t have any suspects to name at this time.

They also added it’s pretty rare to see a robbery in this area, but the store has a huge helper in the investigation.

“A good surveillance system is always helpful. If somebody does get in, it allows us to really follow leads up and see what there is that’s been going on,” Lt. Ian Nelson said.

The store installed temporary glass following the incident and re-opened for business at around 3 p.m. Monday, but there is still work to be done.

“If people knows anything about it please contact the police, so we can get these hooligans off the street,” Willie said.
