Idaho Falls, ID – This afternoon at approximately 4:00 PM, local law enforcement worked jointly to apprehend wanted suspect Pedro A. Lopez, 25, of Idaho Falls. Lopez, also known as “Lil South,” had six outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest and is a known gang member.

Lopez was located in the area of 21st Street and Leslie Avenue, near Tautphaus Park. When law enforcement attempted to perform a traffic stop on Lopez, he fled and attempted to elude police. Police followed Lopez as his black sedan began to smoke. He led law enforcement in a pursuit southbound and then turned West on to Sunnyside Road. Several other law enforcement units responded to the pursuit, which continued briefly until Lopez turned North on to Pioneer Lane, which is where law enforcement officers were able to corner Lopez.

When cornered, Lopez refused to get out of the vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle to remove Lopez and place him under arrest. Lopez physically fought officers to avoid being apprehended. He eventually succumbed after a taser was deployed. Shortly thereafter, Lopez was arrested and booked into the Bonneville County Jail on the following charges:
