Bingham County precinct runs out of ballots, causing election delays

BINGHAM COUNTY – There may be delays in getting a final count on the election in one Bingham County precinct.
Bingham County Clerk Pamela Eckhardt tells EastIdahoNews.com they ran out of printed ballots in Precinct 20 in Fort Hall around 7:30 p.m.
They got approval from the Secretary of State’s office to print more ballots. Three Express voting machines are being utilized to print ballots for voters still waiting in line.
Eckhardt says there were about 50 people in line at 8:00. They are working to get more ballots as quickly as possible, but Eckhardt says this could significantly delay election results.
“It might be 11:00 before we get any results in,” Eckhardt says.
Bingham County has seen a higher than usual voter turnout this election, says Eckhardt, and a high number — about 200 — of first time voter registrations.
