REXBURG — Police are investigating a report of malicious injury to property after a firework was thrown into a Brigham Young University-Idaho student apartment.

The incident happened at Greenbrier Apartments on Princeton Court around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

A woman reported that she was lying on the couch when two men opened the front door and threw a lit fountain-type firework into the living room.

“The tenant was underneath a blanket and the firework landed on top of her,” Rexburg Police Capt. Randy Lewis says. “She got up and the firework fell on the floor. It burned the blanket and the carpet.”

Investigators are looking for the suspects and ask anyone with information to call (208) 359-3008.
