Winter storm warnings, advisories in effect for much of eastern Idaho
Published at | Updated atPOCATELLO — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for several parts of eastern Idaho. The warning is in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Saturday.
Areas impacted by the warning include the Bear River Range, Blackfoot Mountains, Caribou Range, Big Hole Mountains, Centennial Mountains, Island Park, Soda Springs, Henry, Bone and Victor.
Periods of heavy snow are expected with some areas seeing 12 to 24 inches.

Travel is expected to be difficult to hazardous at times and drivers should be prepared for significant reductions in visibility due to blowing and drifting snow.
A winter weather advisory is also in effect for the Upper Snake River Plain, Beaverhead, Lemhi Highlands, Lost River Valley, Lost River Range, Challis/Pahsimeroi Valleys, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Dubois, Small, Arco, Mackay, Chilly, Challis, St Anthony, Spencer, and Mackay.

The advisory goes into effect at midnight Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday. Snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches in the lower elevations and 6 to 10 inches in the mountains above 6,000 feet are expected.
