The following is a news release from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.

BONNEVILLE COUNTY — The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office would like to invite the public to a community presentation about youth substance abuse prevention and current drug trends in our community.

DARE officers will be giving an overview of what is being taught and why substance abuse prevention is important for our youth. They will also discuss some of the trends we are seeing in our schools with regards to types of drugs and drug activity. Tips and resources will be provided for parents to get themselves educated and help their kids stay free of substance abuse.

Our goal is to spend about an hour speaking directly to parents and adults about these issues and answer questions about exactly what our deputies and School Resource Officers are seeing with our youth. We encourage parents to take a moment and join us to get informed and educated about what to watch for that will help keep your children safe.

The meeting will be on Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Rocky Mountain Middle School Auditorium located at 3443 N. Ammon Rd. (intersection of Ammon and Iona Rd.).
