Shopko announces store closures in Idaho, Utah
Wisconsin-based retail chain Shopko stores has filed for bankruptcy protection as it makes plans to close more stores.
Shopko is reporting assets of less than $1 billion and liabilities of between $1 billion and $10 billion. Shopko says it plans to continue operating through chapter 11 reorganization after securing financing from a group of lenders led by Wells Fargo Bank.
The retailer says it will close 38 more stores, including 13 in Utah, two Shopko Hometown Stores in Montana and Wyoming, and three Idaho Shopko stores in the Treasure Valley, one in Nampa and two in Boise.
The Shopko stores in Idaho Falls and Chubbuck were not on the closure list.
