The following is a news release from the Idaho Falls Fire Department.

IDAHO FALLS – As long as the weather conditions remain favorable today, the Idaho Falls Fire Department, along with the Idaho National Laboratory Fire Department and Central Fire District, will be conducting a 50-acre prescribed burn for wildfire risk reduction. We are also using the opportunity to train the new IFFD recruits.

We will be burning in the area north of the Arco Highway, one mile west of 65th West near Idaho Falls Raceway at Noise Park. We will begin at approximately 9:45 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

We are expecting another busy wildland fire season and have been training and preparing our crews over the past several months.

In 2018, IFFD deployed 81 firefighters to 41 different wildfires in eight different states, serving 714 days on the frontlines.
