Woman killed, 3 rushed to hospital following Caldwell crash

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.

On Sunday, April 5, at 2:05 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Key West Street and South Florida Avenue, in Caldwell.

Janet Gonzalez, 37, of Caldwell, was driving southbound on South Florida Avenue in a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. Grayson Thurston, 20, of Nampa, was also driving southbound on South Florida Avenue in a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. Thurston’s vehicle struck Gonzalez’s vehicle. Gonzalez was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

Gonzalez’s passenger, Roberto Gonzalez Diaz, 40, of Caldwell, was transported by ground ambulance to West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell. A juvenile passenger in Gonzalez’s vehicle was transported by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Thurston was transported by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Health Plaza in Nampa.

The intersection of South Florida Avenue and Key West Street in Caldwell was blocked for approximately three and a half hours. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
