Secret Santa surprises a math teacher in the middle of her online class

Secret Santa is back and this Christmas is bigger than ever!

The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local man gift more than $500,000 this holiday season. A lot more. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to help as many people as he can.

We will be surprising deserving people and families every day from now until Christmas with gifts unique to their circumstances.

Dawn Thornton is a recently divorced teacher of six children, five of whom still live at home. She is supporting these children on a teacher’s salary at the Rigby Virtual Academy. She is a math coach for the academy and Rigby Middle School.

Dawn switched to teaching online this year so she would have a more flexible schedule to care for her kids. She is a caring, loving mother and works hard to make ends meet with her salary. She is so humble and would not ever think of asking for help from anyone.

Dawn is always going the extra mile to help students with their work so they feel successful. At the homecoming parade this year, she brought all of her children and they helped with their school float. They stayed long after the parade to help take apart the float and ensure all of the items were put away and in their proper place.

Dawn and her kids do not wear fancy clothes or shoes. They are making ends meet with a smile on their face and love in their home.

Secret Santa asked us if we could take Dawn an early Christmas gift. Watch the video above to see her reaction!
