EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley HomeStore are teaming up every week to bring you some good news during Feel Good Friday!

We want to thank people in our community with random acts of kindness and leave you feeling good.

The Rexburg Mobile Food Pantry started seven and a half years ago. It is managed by a group of community members with food being provided by the Idaho FoodBank.

Once a month, anyone in need is welcome to show up and collect food. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began earlier this year, food has been distributed twice a month.

Rexburg has the highest poverty rate in Idaho, according to the US Census, and is one of the only cities without a brick and mortar food pantry. When the food pantry was launched, around 500 families collected a total of 30,000 lbs. of food.

That number has increased dramatically over the years. Two weeks ago, 838 families picked up over 52,000 lbs. of food. The pantry is run completely by volunteers and donations.

This week we decided to thank the organization and donate turkeys to families in need. Watch the video above to see the incredible food of the Rexburg Mobile Food Pantry and visit their Facebook page here for more information.
