Deputies say man blew four times the legal limit after getting behind the wheel
IDAHO FALLS — Deputies arrested a local man when he reportedly blew four times the legal limit after drinking beer and driving.
Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies and Idaho Falls Police officers were called about a drunk driver near South Holmes Avenue and Sunnyside Road Friday just before 11 p.m., according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The driver, Christopher E. Lusk, 39, of Bonneville County, was booked into jail for felony third offense DUI.
Lusk reportedly almost hit another vehicle before pulling into the Idaho Falls Home Depot parking lot. Deputies and officers found Lusk in the vehicle and he smelled of alcohol while appearing intoxicated.
During their investigation, Lusk told deputies he had been drinking beer and he took a breathalyzer test. Results of the breath test indicated he blew four times the legal limit.
Deputies took Lusk to Idaho Falls Community Hospital because of his “extreme level” of intoxication. He was then booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
“The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists who have been drinking or using illegal drugs to be responsible and don’t get behind the wheel of a vehicle,” officials wrote in the news release. “Plan for a safe ride home and don’t take the chance of being arrested or involved in a crash that could injure you or others on our roadways.”
Court records show Lusk was convicted of misdemeanor DUI in 2017 and 2015. Because of the previous convictions, prosecutors were able to charge him with the felony.
An initial appearance for Lusk is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
Although Lusk is accused of a crime, it does not necessarily mean he committed it. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
