The following is a news release from the Eastern Idaho State Fair.

BLACKFOOT — The International Association of Fairs & Expositions announced in November that General Manager Brandon Bird has joined the Board of Directors, representing Zone 7, which is made up of fairs from Idaho, Montana, Alberta, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

Bird has been the GM of the Eastern Idaho State Fair for 13 years and has been a member of the IAFE organization for the entire time. Over the past 13 years, Bird has been honored to be a Past President of the Rocky Mountain Association of Fairs and has seen the Eastern Idaho State Fair set 7 new attendance records.

The IAFE is governed by a board of directors comprising 18 elected members and the president and CEO. Bird will serve for a 3-year term.

“The IAFE has been a great source for helping Fairs improve their ability to deliver wholesome, affordable family education and entertainment in a clean and safe agricultural environment. I look forward to serving with great people who are part of this accomplished and valuable organization,” Bird said.

The Eastern Idaho State Fair received an Award of Excellence in the Hall of Honor Communications contest during the International Association of Fairs and Expositions 2022 Virtual Awards Show. They received first-place awards in the Television and Social Media categories for their productions during the 2022 fair.

“We put a lot of resources and talent towards our marketing efforts. To be recognized by IAFE for that work is very satisfying. Our marketing team at I.E. Productions is one of the best. They delivered an excellent social media experience for our Fair-goers to be informed and experience the excitement of 120 Years of Fun!” he said.

The Hall of Honor Communications contest received 742 entries, showcasing a vast array of promotional tactics used at fairs across the world. Communication awards are sponsored by K&K Insurance, headquartered in Indiana.

The 13 categories within the communication awards are divided into five divisions by fair attendance.

After submission, entries are judged based on predetermined criteria set forth by IAFE committees.

Judges include industry professionals both within and outside of the IAFE membership.
