Over 20 nonprofits will be at a fair this weekend where you can explore volunteer opportunities

IDAHO FALLS — Do you love helping people? Or are you wondering how you can volunteer your time in the community? This Friday and Saturday is a chance for you to explore service opportunities with over 20 local nonprofits.
The second annual “Volunteer Recruitment Fair” will be held by the University of Idaho Bonneville County Extension on Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Bonneville County Fairgrounds Education Complex.
“The purpose is to help our local nonprofits recruit more community volunteers. Many, since COVID, especially, have noticed a drop off in volunteering,” said Leslee Blanch with the University of Idaho Bonneville County Extension.
Nonprofits in attendance include Hospice of Eastern Idaho, Idaho Falls Rescue Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Museum of Idaho and others.
Blanch said it’s a good time for students and kids to see what’s available.
“This weekend is a great opportunity for high school seniors who may need to start planning a senior project with a nonprofit. Great for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, (and) youth groups,” she said.
The complex where the event is taking place is located at 1542 East 73rd South in Idaho Falls. Admission is free.
“If people can just give volunteering a chance–at least inquire–they might find that there is something that they are very passionate about,” Blanch added. “Even if they do just a one-time volunteer opportunity. It doesn’t have to be every week or every month.”
