Play golf, drink beer and be merry indoors with this American Falls business
Published at | Updated atAMERICAN FALLS — A business in American Falls has been open for two years, giving local golfers an interesting way to play through the snowy winter months.
Pours and Fores is an indoor golf simulator with two golf bays, each capable of holding eight people at once, and self-serve beer taps.
Hitting the ball into a screen and having the details of the shot tracked by an electronic monitor, according to manager Baylee Ramirez, is a great way to improve your game. The simulator shows things like club speed, contact point, ball speed, spin rate and carry distance.
“It’s a good place to — especially if you’re just starting out with (golf), to come and, kinda, learn your clubs, learn how to hit and all that kind of stuff. It’s really good for that.”
More than just an indoor driving range where golfers can fine tune their swing, Pours and Fores offers many popular — or lesser-known — golf courses.
During the winter months, when area golfers can’t get onto Highland, Riverside or American Falls Golf Clubs, they can instead play at St. Andrews, Pinehurst or Pebble Beach. And at Pours and Fores, there is no waiting for the beer cart — with eight kegerators on a fridge full of beer and wine just a few feet away.
There are certain beers kept on tap, Ramirez said, like Michelob Ultra, Coors Light and Kona Brewing Big Wave. There are also, regularly, a hard cider, an ale and dark beer, like a stout.
Pours and Fores, located at 216 Idaho Street in American Falls, is open through the winter months — until the American Falls Golf Club reopens in the spring. Their hours are Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday, 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
For those who don’t own their own clubs, forgot theirs at home or just want to try something different, full-set rentals can be borrowed for no additional cost — they have men’s, women’s, children’s and left-handed sets available.
There are also golf leagues to join. One or both bays can be reserved for private parties, Ramirez added.
For more information about the leagues or other items available at Pours and Fores — like merchandise, seasonal punch passes or gift cards — visit their website — here — or Facebook page — here.
You can also call to make a tee time — at (208) 644-3673. Reserving a tee time, Ramirez said, is often necessary.
“Once the golf courses close, it gets pretty busy. My recommendation is to make a tee time — and when we start getting busier, you’re going to have to make them, like, a week in advance.”
