ST. ANTHONY — A home in the heart of St. Anthony is likely a total loss after a fire Sunday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The fire was called to a home on 1st North in St. Anthony at about 1:30 p.m., Dave Fausett of the St. Anthony Fire Department told EastIdahoNews.com.

The occupants of the home escaped successfully, he said, but several of the family’s cats are missing.

St. Anthony Fire Department responded with four trucks. South Fremont Fire Department and the St. Anthony Police Department assisted.

“(The house) is probably a total loss,” Fausett said. “There is heavy damage to the roof and front of the home.”

Fausett estimates the cost of the damage to be about $300,000.

By 2:30 p.m., fire crews were working on extinguishing hot spots, Fausett reported, and members of The Idaho Chaplains Association were on the scene assisting the family.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The fire marshall is investigating the incident.
