VICTOR — Victor will have its first Holiday Festival of Lights this Saturday with tons of events and activities.

Victor City Clerk Michelle Smith says the new event is in response to low turnouts for the Holiday Light Parade in previous years.

“It was a five-minute parade, and we’re trying to make it last longer, which is going to be about four hours,” Smith said.

All of the festivities will take place along East Birch Street.

A trunk-or-treat will kick off the event at Sugar Plum Lane on Birch Street. Visitors can also peruse the first ever Mistletoe Market with 19 vendors.

“Come shop local for Christmas gifts,” Smith said. “You can bring your family out and purchase something for siblings or your neighbor.”

Victor Public Works will put on the annual Turkey Toss on Main Street, where visitors can throw a football through an opening in a plywood turkey. If you win, you receive a free turkey. If you lose, you get to walk away with a candy bar.

Valley of the Tetons Library will host Santa’s Workshop, where children and adults can make crafts and listen to stories.

The Teton Women’s Business Initiative is donating decorated wreaths for a silent auction.

Throughout the afternoon, the events committee will keep an eye out for the best Ugly Holiday Attire. The winner will receive a $100 gift card.

The business with the “Best Holiday Door Decoration” will win a gift certificate, as will the winner of the Best Decorated Sugar Plum Lane Vehicle.

The afternoon will end with a firework show.

“I’m excited to see the changes,” Smith said. “I’m hoping that it brings in more people and the community gets excited.”

The Holiday Festival of Lights will be Dec. 7 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Sign-ups are closed for participation in business door decorations and the trunk-or-treat.
