Two snowmobilers rescued in remote area of Bingham County

BONE – Two snowmobilers are safe after getting lost in a remote area of Bingham County Saturday night.
It started around 4:45 p.m. about three miles south of Pasa La Coma campground and four miles west of Blackfoot Reservoir Road near Bone, according to the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. One riders’ sled wouldn’t start and the pair had become disoriented due to weather conditions.
A sergeant got through to them by phone and determined their general location. A search and rescue team was sent to look for them around 5 p.m.
“They deployed with a tracked Side by Side for mobile command and climate control availability, as well as Snowmobiles to traverse the terrain,” the sheriff’s office reports in a Facebook post.
Around 9:30 p.m., the pair were finally located and made it home safely.
“We would like to thank the amazing staff of the Sheriff’s Office and our Search and Rescue Family for not just answering the call, but having the skills and the grit to come through when it counts most,” the sheriff’s office says.
