Man passing vehicle dies after crashing head-on into semi

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.
ELMORE COUNTY — The Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash that occurred at 6:10 a.m. on Thursday on Idaho Highway 167 at milepost 6.3, north of Grandview.
A 2023 Nissan Rogue, driven by a 32-year-old male from Istanbul, Türkiye, was northbound on Idaho Highway 167 and passed an unknown vehicle in the no-passing zone. The Nissan struck a southbound 2025 Western Star Cattle Hauler semi, driven by a 70-year-old male from Mountain Home, head-on.
The driver of the Nissan succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the semi-driver was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.
Idaho Highway 167 was blocked for approximately five hours.
This incident remains under investigation by ISP.
