IDAHO FALLS — A 45-year-old man is wanted for escaping from the Work Release Center at the Bonneville County Jail, according to a social media post from East Idaho Crime Stoppers.

Jeremy Don Colwell is described as 5’10” and weighs 220 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

“He had been arrested toward the middle of December on outstanding misdemeanor warrants for failure to appear at hearings,” Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bryan Lovell told EastIdahoNews.com.

Lovell stated that Colwell was permitted to have a work release pass on Sunday.

However, Colwell had been approved for work detail, but not work release, the sheriff’s office released on Wednesday.

He was let out due to a miscommunication by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office. Lovell said that is being investigated internally.

Colwell departed at noon and failed to return.

Escapees from work release are not a “daily, weekly or monthly occurrence,” Lovell stated.

It is a misdemeanor charge for an inmate to not return to the Work Release Center.

Anyone with information on where Colwell might be is asked to contact Bonneville County Dispatch at (208) 529-1200 or report anonymously online to East Idaho Crimestoppers at www.IFcrime.org.

EastIdahoCrimeStoppers covers 17 counties in eastern Idaho, Lovell shared.
