Mobile car detailing business now has a permanent storefront in Rexburg

REXBURG — For someone with OCD, cleanliness is a mark of distinction. It’s certainly a quality that Talmage Martindale values, and it’s an integral part of his business.
The 24-year-old Ashton man owns Tal’s Auto Spa Detailing at 229 South 5th West, Suite 300 in Rexburg. He provides a variety of vehicle detailing services, including interior and exterior washes, headlight restoration, waxing, paint correction and more.
It started as a mobile operation about three years ago. Martindale acquired a storefront earlier this year and has operated out of his shop since February.
Martindale tells EastIdahoNews.com the permanent location will allow him to better serve customers, and he’s happy to do business in a shop with his name on it.
“I’ll pick up the cars if (the customer’s) car is close by,” Martindale says, explaining the business is no longer a mobile operation. “It’s nice to have everything in a set location.”
He and his friend also own a tint shop right next door, giving customers a “one-stop shop” to get their car cleaned and windows tinted.
He’s acquired a group of regular customers since launching the business and he appreciates those who have supported him.
Martindale’s love of clean cars started years ago when he was in high school. He used to clean cars during lunch hour at school to make a few bucks. He got the idea from his friends in Arizona, who owned a similar business.
Having a clean car is important to Martindale because he has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. He’s always thrived in an environment that’s clean and organized.
It’s rewarding for him to watch a vehicle transform during the cleaning process.
He wants the business to continue to grow so he can hire a cleaning crew and step back from the day-to-day operations.
“Hopefully, I can get pretty big and just oversee everything,” says Martindale.
Tal’s Auto Spa Detailing is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit the website or Facebook page to learn more.
