Woman killed in northern Idaho crash

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.
Idaho State Police is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on July 22 at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Atlas Road at Arrowhead Road, in Coeur d’Alene.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo, occupied by an 80-year-old female of Coeur d’Alene, was traveling northbound on Atlas Road. The driver failed to maintain her lane, the vehicle crossed the southbound lanes of Atlas, then crashed and came to rest off the roadway.
The female was the single occupant of the vehicle. She was transported via ground ambulance to a local hospital before succumbing to her injuries. This crash is still under investigation.
Assisting agencies included Coeur d’Alene Police Department, Coeur d’Alene Fire Department, and Kootenai County Fire & Rescue.
