HEYBURN — A man was struck and killed late Monday night after walking in the wrong direction on Interstate 84, according to Idaho State Police.
Troopers say the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. at mile marker 207 in Minidoka County.
A white 2013 Ram 2500, driven by a 22-year-old woman from Jerome, was headed west with a 21-year-old male passenger from Declo when a 44-year-old man from Sebring, Florida, appeared in their lane.
Investigators say the pedestrian was walking eastbound in the westbound lanes when he entered the vehicle’s path and was hit. He died at the scene.
Neither the driver nor the passenger was injured, and both had been wearing seatbelts.
The westbound lanes were blocked for about two and a half hours while crews responded. Agencies assisting included the Minidoka County Sheriff’s Office, Cassia County Sheriff’s Office, Heyburn Police Department, West End QRU, Emergency Run Ambulance, and the Idaho Transportation Department.
