Century claims sixth-straight boys’ district tennis title, second girls’ title in a row

POCATELLO — The Century Diamondbacks continued their reign of dominance over District 5 5A tennis, winning their sixth boys’ district title in as many years and their second consecutive girls’ district championship.
Century boys beat the Pocatello Thunder 80-33 to claim the crown. The Diamondback girls beat Poky 70-43. En route to the dominant team showing, Century won all five district championship matches, according to coach Sean Kane.

Tiden Lynn beat Century teammate Jude Davids to three-peat as boys’ singles district champ. Both players qualify for the state meet.
The duo of Liam McGee and Shep Butler beat Pocatello’s Asa Northrup and Graham Farnsworth for the boys’ doubles title and a spot at state.
Century’s Macie Sutton beat Pocatello’s Jensyn Morgan in the girls’ singles championship match to claim back-to-back crowns. Both will represent the Gate City at next week’s state meet.
The team of Bel Miller and Kate Spicer beat fellow the Century duo of Claire Frost and Lana Romriell for the girls’ doubles championship. The Miller-Spice team will head to the state tournament with a perfect 25-0 record on the season.
Nate Romriell also became a back-to-back district champ, with first-year mixed doubles teammate Skyler Gates, beating Pocatello’s duo of Josie Haymore and Peyton Hunsaker.
The 5A state tennis championships will be held at the Boise Racquet Club on May 15 and 16.
