ST. ANTHONY – A 66-year-old Montana man was killed in an off-highway vehicle crash at the St. Anthony Sand Dunes.

It happened on Friday around 2 p.m., according to a news release from the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies did not specify the man’s name and details about the crash are unclear.

“Upon arrival, responders found bystanders actively performing CPR on the victim. Despite lifesaving efforts by both bystanders and emergency personnel, a 66-year-old man from Montana was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the news release says.

The crash remains under investigation. Authorities say no further information will be released.

Meanwhile, emergency responders “extend their sincere condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones” and they’re reminding the public to be careful while recreating on the dunes or elsewhere.

“As summer recreation continues, we encourage everyone visiting the dunes and other off-road areas to use caution, be aware of changing terrain conditions, and always wear appropriate protective gear,” the news release says.
